Italian Cities and Cultures

In the age of climate change, the city is a problematic context, being at once the culprit and the victim of the ecological crisis. By exploring some of the most iconic Italian cities (Rome, Naples, Venice, Palermo, Milan, Florence, etc.) from the angles of literature, film, and ecology, this course will examine how urban culture responds to the threat of environmental decline. The course is taught in Italian, but non-Italian-speaking students can be accommodated.
