This course is an introduction to the concepts and theories of pragmatics as an area of linguistics, with a central focus on Spanish. In this course we discuss implicatures, presuppositions, speech acts, sociopragmatics, and other relevant matters. Here we discuss the “why” of how we communicate, as speaker and hearer, using the Spanish language.
This course is given completely in Spanish.
Prerequisite: SPAN 360.
