Learn to analyze 13th c. manuscripts and the earliest poetry written in the Italian language. Topics include courtly love, poetic rivalries, political and religious lyric, women writers, multiethnic Sicily, the legendary rulers Federico II and Genghis Khan.
Guided original research: use new skills in literary and manuscript analysis to conduct a multi-phase research project on an Italian manuscript.
