About Professor Maqueda-Jiménez

Originally from Seville, Spain, Raquel Maqueda has taught for almost 20 years in a variety of educational contexts. In addition to UNC-Chapel Hill, Professor Maqueda has worked at North Carolina Central University, Salem College, UNC School of the Arts, and Indiana University. She also had the opportunity to serve as a Teaching Assistant for the University of Limerick in Ireland while studying abroad. She has led several Spanish immersion programs in Cádiz, Ciudad Real, Valencia, and Seville, Spain, and created one of the first study abroad programs for UNC School of the Arts students. Professor Maqueda has travelled extensively through Europe, Latin America, and India. She currently resides in Chapel Hill with her multicultural family.
