About Celina

Celina is a PhD student and a Graduate Teaching Fellow in the Literatures, Languages, and Cultures of the Iberian Peninsula and the Americas program. She earned her B.A. and M.A. from the University of Iowa, where she taught Elementary Spanish I and Intermediate Spanish II. Celina grew up in Mexico and lived in Iowa for 11 years before moving to North Carolina in 2023.

She is interested in Latin American literature of the 20th and 21st centuries, with a special interest in Mexican literature, women writers, and culture. When not teaching, studying, or catching up on sleep, she enjoys reading, watching women's basketball, baking, and talking to friends and family (including her two family dogs: June and Rocky).
