About James
James is a first year PhD student, returning from a yearlong graduate internship in Seville, Spain where he worked at the study abroad company CINECU. His masters thesis, directed by Dr. Frank Dominguez and presented at the 2015 Carolina Conference for Romance Studies, reads Juan Ruiz and the Marqués de Santillana's serranas as an allegory of nature in a time when humanism is beginning to influence medieval attitudes toward nature. His love for Medieval and Early Modern literature grew out of contact with medieval studies during his time as an undergraduate.
Typical Courses Taught
At UNC he has taught four semesters of Spanish for High Beginners (Spanish 105). He also has taught English and (Spanish) literacy to the Hispanic community on a volunteer basis as an undergraduate.
