About Nicole
As a scholar, Nicole has a diverse academic background and a passion for French language and literature. Her undergraduate studies included enriching experiences in Avignon, France, and Segovia, Spain, where she developed a deep appreciation for cross-cultural perspectives. Building on this foundation, Nicole pursued further studies at the Faculté des Lettres in Avignon and the Monterey Institute of International Studies, in Monterey, CA focusing on Translation and Interpretation.
Most recently, Nicole earned her Master’s Degree from North Carolina State University, where she specialized in French Culture and Language as well as Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Her Master's thesis investigated the comparative effectiveness of inductive versus deductive methods in French grammar instruction, showcasing her commitment to advancing pedagogical practices.
Nicole's research interests are centered on the representation of female characters in French literature and the societal lessons they convey. Her doctoral research will delve into the contributions of historically significant yet now overlooked French female artists and writers. By examining the reasons behind their erasure from contemporary recognition, Nicole aims to uncover insights into gender dynamics and cultural valuation in both historical and modern contexts.
A dedicated educator, Nicole is enthusiastic about teaching French and engaging in research that bridges literary analysis with sociocultural critique. In her work as a PhD student, she aims to reflect her ongoing commitment to exploring and elevating voices within the French literary tradition.
Personally, Nicole enjoys traveling, being in nature, running, cooking and spending time with friends and family.
