About Trey

Trey Anthony is an ESL and Spanish as a Second Language educator and researcher in the fields of sociolinguistics, language politics, second language acquisition/bilingualism, and LGBTQ studies. After graduating from Appalachian State University with an M.A. in Spanish Language Education, he taught English and Spanish in Cartagena, Spain and Puebla, Mexico, before applying to the Hispanic Linguistics PhD at UNC Chapel Hill. His undergraduate work on L2 Spanish dialect acquisition won Best Oral Presentation at the 2014 BigSURS conference and his most recent work, "FAMILIARIDAD Y PERCEPCIONES DEL LENGUAJE INCLUSIVO ENTRE LOS DOCENTES DE ESPAÑOL EN MÉXICO Y ESPAÑA: un estudio exploratorio" was published in 2021 in the Mexican journal Entorno UDLAP. He hopes to continue teaching English and Spanish and doing research that shines a light on members of the Latinx and queer communities.
