PhD Candidate Colleen McAlister Finalist in 3-Minute Thesis Competition

Romance Studies PhD candidate Colleen McAlister has advanced to the top 10 in the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Final Competition scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 4 p.m. in Bondurant Hall G100.

Colleen focuses on nineteenth-century Spanish literature, art and culture. She is completing a dissertation on nineteenth-century writing about architectural ruins and their relation to concepts of Spanish nationhood.

 he Three Minute Thesis (3MT) is an academic competition held worldwide that provides current graduate students an opportunity to foster effective presentation and communication skills. Participants have just three minutes to explain the breadth and significance of their research project to a non-specialist audience. This is the eighth annual competition sponsored by The Graduate School. A distinguished panel of judges will select first and second place while the audience will select a presenter to receive the People’s Choice award.
