Katie is from Athens, Georgia, and earned her B.A. in Hispanic Studies from Davidson College in 2014. She came to UNC in 2016 after teaching high school Spanish for two years in Georgia.

Katie studies contemporary peninsular literature with a focus on 20th- and 21st-century female novelists and short-story writers. She is also interested in Spanish to English translation, feminist and queer theory, comparative literature, second-language acquisition, and service learning.
