The Study Abroad Office boasts three UNC-approved programs for study abroad in Brazil—two in the Northeast (Salvador da Bahia and Fortaleza) and one in São Paulo.

The CET São Paulo program also offers a summer term that has been approved for FLAS (Foreign Language and Area Studies) fellows. Additionally, UNC has a student exchange agreement with the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC), one of the most prestigious universities in Brazil.

Though UNC does not have at this time any approved programs for study abroad in Portugal, there are several available programs from which credits are transferrable to UNC.

The Office of the Registrar mandates that of courses taken abroad, no more than half may count toward a minor (2 courses), and up to half of courses taken toward fulfilling a major (4 courses) may be taken abroad.

Contact the UNC Study Abroad Office or the Undergraduate Advisor for Portuguese (Richard Vernon) for more information.
