Prof. Heather Knorr chosen as an IAAR-SLATE Teaching Fellow for Spring 2022

Teaching Assistant Professor Heather Knorr has been awarded a Teaching Fellowship from UNC’s Institute of African American Research’s initiative for Student Learning to Advance Truth and Equity (IAAR-SLATE) for the Spring 2022 semester. The fellowship will support Prof. Knorr’s curriculum development work to incorporate Afro-Latinx Studies in SPAN 329 (Spanish for Professional and Community Engagement). As part of this project, Prof. Knorr will undertake a research trip to Panama this summer to gather material from Afro-Latinx history and art museums to share with students in her course.
