French Phonetics and Phonology

Students learn how to more closely approximate a standard French accent to make themselves more clearly understood while learning the phonetic alphabet and linguistic terminology for describing oral French. Ongoing practice with different texts (poems, scenes from plays, contes) as well as presentations emphasize practical application of what is learned about the sound system and other features of French prosody (intonation, rhythm, stress, etc). Taught in French.
