What is the Scandal?/Cual es el Escándalo: The Ignored Cry of an Immigrant

A bilingual personal account of Eliana Lopez who was identified as a victim of domestic violence an portrayed by the judicial system and many domestic violence advocates as a poor Latina immigrant unable to stand up for herself.  With this play, she explains her side of the story, one she says she was denied because she was a Latina immigrant.  The play covers issues pertaining to immigration, cultural differences, racial bias, and power of politics.

 

Panel discussion to follow the play with Eliana Lopez, Ariana Vigil (Women’s and Gender Studies), Deborah Weissman (School of Law).
