First session of the 2017-2018 ROMS Colloquium Series

September 13, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Please join us Wednesday, Sept. 13 @5:00-6:30 in Toy Lounge for a discussion of a selection of the 2015 book The Limits of Critique, by Rita Felski, which questions some prevailing practices in literary and cultural studies. The whole of The Limits of Critique is available online through Davis Library (http://search.lib.unc.edu/search?R=UNCb8365516), and the selections that we hope you will read (the Introduction and the chapter “An Inspector Calls”) are available in pdf format on Sakai. You might also want to look at the Forum dedicated to Felski’s book in the March 2017 issue of PMLA (http://www.mlajournals.org.libproxy.lib.unc.edu/toc/pmla/132/2 and on Sakai).

Questions about colloquium? Email one of your friendly coordinators:

 ROMS Colloquium Series

The ROMS Colloquium Series, hosted by the Department of Romance Studies, provides a friendly, communal space for professors and graduate students to share research and methods of inquiry across languages and sub-fields. The Colloquium will occur on a monthly basis with the intent to foster a supportive atmosphere for presenters where feedback is freely shared, common scholarly interests are identified, and participants learn about the intellectual undertakings of their fellow colleagues.
