Anastacia Kohl has served as the Director of Spanish Language Instruction since January of 2020. Before taking on this role, from 2006 through 2019, she served as the Faculty Coordinator for SPAN 203, Intermediate Spanish I, which is the largest course in the Department with over 40 sections every semester. Recently, she authored and began teaching a SPAN 101 course for the Correctional Education Outreach Program at the Friday Center. She enjoys teaching Novice and Intermediate Level students, as well as teaching the department's graduate-level teaching methodology course and supervising Graduate Teaching Fellows.
Dr. Kohl's research interests include alternative language program development, best instructional practices to better serve special populations of students, the use of literature in the lower-level language classroom, course coordination and supervision, and the professional development needs of language teachers. She is an active member of FLANC and a frequent presenter at their annual conference. She is also a member of ACTFL and AAUSC. In addition, Dr. Kohl has served as the Faculty Adviser to Psalm 100, a Christian a cappella group on campus, since 2013.
